Ceiling guy called my miters sloppy, he was right
Had a drywall finisher tell me my crown molding joints had gaps wide enough to fill with spackle. I switched from a standard saw to a compound miter saw with a fine tooth blade and started cutting every angle a half degree shy. Do you guys tune your saws differently for molding versus baseboards?

Actually I just watched a video from a trim carpenter who was talking about this exact thing. He said for crown molding you want the blade to come through the wood at a slightly different angle than base because of how the spring angle changes the cut. A lot of guys set their bevel at exactly 45 degrees but the joint closes better if you cheat it just a hair past that. Might be worth checking if your saw's detents are actually accurate too.

Lol yeah, I found my saw was off by like 2 degrees. Night and day when I finally recalibrated it.
