Can we talk about scribing baseboard to a really uneven floor

I was finishing a basement in my own house last month and the slab was just all over the place, maybe an inch and a half out in a 10 foot run. I tried shimming and coping but it still looked bad. So I grabbed my jigsaw, cut a piece of scrap to the high point, and ran a pencil along the floor contour onto the back of the baseboard. Cut that line with the jigsaw and it dropped right into place like a puzzle piece. Anyone have a better method for this, or is the jigsaw scribe the way to go?
