I spent six months on a proposal that got shelved indefinitely.

All that work feels like a total waste now.

Ugh, that's rough. But that work built skills you still get to carry forward.

What skills, exactly? (Like how to make bad coffee and fake enthusiasm?)

But do those skills even matter if the job made you miserable? Sometimes the cost isn't worth it.
