Appreciation post: My old canvas tent versus a new silpoly one
I finally swapped my heavy 8-pound canvas tent for a 2-pound silpoly one after a rainy weekend in the Adirondacks. The difference wasn't just weight, the silpoly didn't soak up water and stayed dry inside during a sudden downpour. Anyone have tips for making the switch to lighter gear without breaking the bank?

Honestly, I made that same switch last year and felt like a total genius for about five minutes. Then I realized I'd spent years hauling around what felt like a wet circus tent for no good reason. My back still hasn't forgiven me for all those canvas trips. Tbh, checking used gear sites and waiting for end-of-season sales saved me a ton of cash when I was lightening my load.
