Just spent 4 hours fixing a sticky shutter on a Canon F-1 from 1976
I figured it was just old grease like usual but turns out the guy before me had tried to fix it and used some kind of super glue on the curtain drum. Took me forever to clean that mess off without damaging the titanium foil. Has anyone else run into a previous repair job that made things way harder than they needed to be?

Super glue on a curtain drum? Man that's brutal... I would've just given up and looked for a parts body instead of dealing with that nightmare.

Wait, is that a common problem with old super glue fixes? I used to think any fix was better than no fix, but after buying a beat up Pentax Spotmatic that had some kind of epoxy holding the mirror box together, I totally changed my mind. That stuff is awful, it just cracks and makes a bigger mess than the original problem ever was.
