Found out the original Leica M3 shutter curtain silk was actually woven in Switzerland, not Germany. Read it in a 1960s repair manual from a shop in Chicago.

So much for German engineering. Guess they outsourced the fancy fabric.

Oh man, @williams.amy, that's a solid burn right there. Maybe the engineering was just for the parts that don't get sat on. Would explain a lot, honestly. Feels like every company is cutting corners somewhere these days.
