That Tuesday job in Oak Ridge went from nightmare to free BBQ real quick

Last week I had a job over in Oak Ridge that was supposed to be a simple three-hour cable run in an old office building. Pulled up, checked the prints, and right away the wall cavities were packed with that old blown-in insulation that gets everywhere. I spent the first hour just trying to fish a line through without making a huge mess, got stuck twice, had to cut a couple access holes I wasn't planning on. Around noon my helper handed me a drill bit that snapped in the first stud, and I was this close to calling it a day. Then the building manager came down and said they'd order us lunch if we could just get it done by 4, so we pushed through and finished the whole run by half past three. He bought us BBQ from a place called Smoky Ridge, and honestly that sandwich made the whole mess worth it. Has anyone else had a job that started awful but turned around because someone threw in a meal?

Had a similar thing happen on a job in Knoxville. That BBQ deal is a game changer. Always keep a few granola bars in the truck for when lunch gets wrecked. Bought a magnetic tray for drill bits after snapping three in one week. Good managers know food fixes almost anything.

Wait, you're saying the sauce seeps through the bread THAT fast?

My magnetic tray saved me after I snapped three bits in one week too, so I picked up a pack of Dewalt spade bits that come with a lifetime warranty. The only thing worse than a bad drill bit is prying insulation out of your hair for an hour before lunch. If you ever get that Smoky Ridge pulled pork again, ask for extra sauce on the side because it seeps into the bread fast.
