Last Tuesday was my worst day in the shop all year
I was rushing to finish a set of shaker doors for a client in Austin and my dado blade caught a knot the wrong way, split the whole panel right down the middle. Has anyone else had a single mistake just ruin your whole week like that?

...man, I had a buddy who was building a custom dining table for his daughter's wedding, walnut too, real nice piece. He was doing the final pass on the router for the edge profile and his hand slipped just a hair, gouged out a chunk about two inches long right on the top. He said he just stood there staring at it for like five minutes, didn't even cuss, just walked outside and sat on the tailgate of his truck. Ended up having to cut the whole thing down into a coffee table and start the dining table over from scratch... set him back damn near two weeks.

Hand slipped just a hair" hits close to home. What helped me was having a spare piece of the same material set aside for situations like that, even if it means eating a little extra cost upfront. That way I could walk away, let the anger settle, and come back to start fresh instead of trying to patch something that would never look right.
