Serious question, my grocery budget broke in week 3 when my card got declined at Aldi
Last Tuesday I was at the Aldi on 8th with a cart full of stuff and my card got declined for $67, which was weird because I thought I had money left. Turns out I forgot about a $45 auto payment that came out that morning and it wrecked my whole week of planned spending. I put back the chicken and the cheese right there at the register, felt awful, then went home and wrote out every bill on a sticky note so I could see what was actually coming out and when. Now I check my bank app every Friday before I shop instead of just guessing. Has anyone else had a payment sneak up and blow up their food budget for the week?
Auto payments are sneaky like that, they hit when you least expect it and suddenly the money you counted on is gone (I've had a gym charge do the same thing). The real issue is that most of us run our budget on what we see in our head, not what's actually set to come out, so of course it blows up. Checking the app before you shop is a small habit that fixes a big problem.
