My local coffee shop's $5 latte versus my home setup

I tracked my spending for a month and saw I was dropping over $150 just on morning coffee runs. So I bought a $25 French press and a bag of good beans. The first few tries were weak, but after watching a video from a guy in Seattle, I got the grind and steep time right. Now my homemade cup costs about 75 cents and tastes just as good. Anyone else have a small switch that saved a surprising amount?

Wait, a good bag costs $25 alone, right?

Finley_lopez98, you're buying the wrong beans, man. My local roaster sells a solid bag for twelve bucks and it lasts me two weeks. That video probably told you to use more coffee than you think, which explains your math being off.

You spent twenty five bucks on beans? What are you making, rocket fuel? My twelve dollar bag gets the job done. Tastes fine, wakes me up. Maybe you're just paying for the fancy bag it comes in.
