My dad told me to "buy the cheap tape" for sealing boxes
He said all tape is the same, so I grabbed the $2 rolls at the dollar store and tried to seal 30 moving boxes for my cross-town move in Phoenix. Every single one popped open during the drive and I had to pull over three times to re-pack stuff on the shoulder of the highway. Anyone else ever trust bad advice from a parent and regret it big time?

Oh man, "all tape is the same" is such a classic parent line. My dad told me the same thing when I was packing up my apartment to move out of Tucson. I bought the super cheap stuff and by the time I got to the storage unit half the boxes were flapping open. My lamp fell out and shattered on the freeway. I had to pull over at a gas station and buy actual packing tape and a new box for all my kitchen stuff. The cheap tape just peels right off in the heat, like it didn't even stick. Now I always buy the good Scotch brand even if it costs like eight bucks a roll.

@faith_thomas I learned that one the hard way too when three boxes of my tools blew open on I-10.
