I finally gave the 'cash envelope' thing a real shot after years of thinking it was silly

For the longest time, I thought budgeting apps were the only way to go. My problem was always overspending on food and fun stuff, blowing past my $600 monthly limit without fail. Last month, I took out that amount in cash and split it into four labeled envelopes, one for each week. Seeing the physical money disappear made it so much more real than numbers on a screen. I actually ended the month with $85 left over, which never happened before. Has anyone else had a big win with a method they used to think was pointless?

That envelope method really does make you think twice before buying a coffee.

Yeah it's funny how making things physical changes your brain. I mean @the_skyler, I tried something like that with a jar for takeout cash. Actually seeing the money leave the jar made me order pizza way less, idk it just hits different than a card. Maybe it's just me but the digital stuff feels fake sometimes.
