Found a $12 hostel in Merida with free homemade tortillas every morning

Stayed at this place for 4 nights and the owner's abuela made fresh tortillas at 7am each day, which saved me like $8 a day on breakfast alone - has anyone else stumbled on a hidden food perk like that while traveling cheap?

I used to totally write off hostels as just a place to crash, but the "free homemade tortillas" thing would 100% change my mind. Getting a free breakfast that actually tastes good and is made by someone's grandma is a killer deal, especially when it saves you money youd spend on crappy street food anyway. It makes me way more open to trying random cheap spots with weird perks attached.

Wait, is a tortilla really worth all that hype?
