My big bag of rice split open in the kitchen last night
I was getting ready to make dinner and the whole 20 pound bag just gave out on the counter. Rice went everywhere, on the floor, under the fridge, the whole deal. I spent about 45 minutes sweeping and vacuuming it all up. I managed to salvage most of it into airtight containers, but it was a huge mess. Has anyone else had a pantry staple disaster and how did you handle the cleanup without wasting food?

My buddy had a whole shelf of dried beans collapse once, it looked like a beanbag chair exploded in his pantry. He said the worst part was finding lentils in his shoes a week later. He used a dustpan and brush for the big piles and a shop vac for the rest, said it was like cleaning up a thousand tiny ball bearings. He still refuses to buy beans in bulk.

Sounds like your kitchen turned into a rice paddy overnight. At least you got a free workout with all that sweeping.
