Just realized how much I miss the 99 cent store for meal planning

I used to grab a bag of lentils and a can of tomatoes there for under $2 and make dinner for three days. Saw it turned into a dollar store now and the prices doubled on everything, kind of bums me out honestly. Anyone else find a solid budget spot that hasn't changed over the years?

Right! That Mexican market change would hit me hard too. I used to hit up a little corner store near my old apartment that sold big bags of rice for like two bucks and they always had these weird discount veggies that were still fine to cook with. Then the owner retired and the new guy raised everything by at least a dollar, now a bag of onions is almost five bucks. It's like finding a good deal spot is pure luck and once it's gone you're just stuck paying more for the same stuff.

Yeah isn't it wild how even the cheap spots eventually stop being cheap? Feels like everything's quietly creeping up and we're all just supposed to act like it's normal.

Honestly, that's such a bummer when you find a spot that works and then it just shifts. Felt the same way when my local Mexican market stopped stocking those 50-cent packs of tortillas. Hope you find a new go-to place that stays consistent.
