Found a free sketching group at the library last Tuesday

I walked into my local library in Portland to grab a book and saw a flyer for a weekly drawing group that just uses scrap paper and pencils they provide. It's completely free and I've been going for 3 weeks now, met some cool folks. Anybody know other libraries doing stuff like this?

...and honestly the whole thing is a smart move by the library. I read somewhere that a lot of libraries are doing this now to get people in the door without it feeling like homework. The free supplies part is key, nobody wants to haul a bunch of stuff around just to try something new. I'd bet if you ask at the front desk they'd know if any other branches have similar programs, sometimes the smaller ones fly under the radar with this kind of thing.

Oh, have you checked if the library has a community board online too? Some of them list events that aren't on flyers, and I bet other branches might have similar drawing groups if you ask a librarian. I've seen craft swaps and writing clubs at a few libraries around here, but sketching with free supplies is a really cool idea.
