Update: My brick mailbox build had a goofy start
Tried to freehand the layout without a level, ended up with a leaning tower lmao. Had to tear it down and use a proper guide, but the neighbors got a kick out of it.

Freehanding without a level is a bold move, haha. We've all been there with DIY projects. Glad you got it sorted in the end.

Honestly, I was totally in the "close enough is good enough" camp for years. Reading what faithhunt said about us all being there really hit home. My own lesson came from a shelf that looked fine until I put a book on it and the whole thing tilted. Now I measure like three times and that level is my best friend. It really does save you a ton of trouble later on.

Yeah that "close enough" mindset gets you every time. I started using a laser level for shelves and it changed everything. No more guessing if things are straight.
