Sealing every brick project is overkill in dry climates.
Skip the sealer on interior brick to let it breathe.

Maybe @danieltaylor should consider how sealers can actually change the brick's color over time, not just cause residue.

Totally agree about skipping sealers in dry areas. I sealed a brick accent wall once and it just trapped moisture, left this weird white residue I had to scrub off.
