Guy at the Bothell QFC parking lot asked why I still shop there, and now I can't stop thinking about it
He was loading up at the new H Mart on 228th and asked why I bother with QFC when it's 20 cents more on eggs and the produce dies in 3 days. He's got a point, but I've been going to that same QFC since 2011 and the guy at the deli knows my order. Anyone else split between the cheap new spot and the old reliable one?
Did you try just doing both for a while instead of picking one? That's what worked for me when the H Mart on 164th opened up near my old Safeway. I get my meat and veggies at H Mart now because the prices are just better, but I still hit the old store every couple weeks for the stuff I actually care about, like the bread I like and the people at the counter who say hi to my kid by name. After a few months I figured out which trips were worth the extra 20 cents and which ones weren't, and honestly the guilt about "switching" faded once I stopped treating it like I had to choose a side.
Honestly the part that got me is that the counter people say hi to your kid by name, because that would make it way harder for me to ever fully walk away from a place like that. @gibson.sean you're right that treating it like picking a side is what makes it feel so heavy, when really nobody at either store is keeping score. Splitting trips just based on what you actually care about seems way less stressful than forcing a clean break.
