Stopped by the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix last weekend and something felt off

All the agave were tagged with numbers instead of names, like a weird plant catalog. Did they change their labeling system or is this just a temporary thing while they update?

Wait, you mean you used to think all those botanical names were just pretentious nonsense? Me too, honestly. Then I started noticing how knowing the exact species helped with watering and sun needs. Different agaves have totally different temperaments. Now I actually keep a little notebook with tags and dates for all my plants. Makes a huge difference when something starts going wrong.
