My prized orchid collection got hit by a surprise frost last month
I was in my greenhouse in Portland, checking on things like I do every morning. The weather app said it would be a mild night, so I didn't run the heater. Woke up to find the leaves on my Cattleyas and Phalaenopsis had turned to mush, about 15 plants in total. I felt sick. I moved the least damaged ones inside right away, cut off all the dead tissue with sterilized shears, and hoped for the best. It's been four weeks now and only three are showing any new growth. The rest are just sad, brown sticks in pots. I'm trying to decide if I should just start over with hardier types or keep nursing these along. Has anyone else had a greenhouse fail like this and brought plants back from the brink?

@troy439 had a good point about keeping them dry, but I'd worry a rooting hormone could stress them more right now.

My greenhouse in Seattle lost 8 orchids to a cold snap last year. I agree with @abby_king22 on the rooting hormone, and keeping them bone dry for a month saved two of mine.
