Thought paper gaskets were best until a 12 hour seal job on a boiler in Pittsburgh failed twice
Switched to a ceramic rope gasket after an old foreman told me to try it and it's held for 6 months now with no leaks, has anyone else had better luck with ceramic over paper on high temp applications?

Damn, that's a good run. Did you have to scrape off any residue from the paper gasket before you put the ceramic rope in?

Pittsburgh winters are brutal on any kind of gasket, man. Honestly, it took me two failed attempts on a similar job near the Monongahela before I figured out the same lesson.
