Almost $400 down the drain on a 'lifetime' welding helmet

I was convinced I needed a top of the line auto-darkening hood with all the bells and whistles. Dropped like $380 on a Speedglas a couple months ago because I figured it would last forever. The thing works fine, but I swear the battery life is worse than my old $80 Jackson. I spend more time squinting at the delay than I do actually welding now. Should have just bought two decent mid-range hoods for the same money. Anyone else regret chasing the expensive gear?.

Not that serious man, a delay is just a minor annoyance.

Tbh I feel you on this one. I had almost the exact same thing happen with a Miller hood I dropped way too much cash on. The battery drain got so bad I started keeping a spare cheap hood in my truck just so I wouldn't have to deal with the lag. It's frustrating when you pay for what's supposed to be the best and it lets you down like that. Honestly the "lifetime" part feels like a joke when the thing can't even hold a charge for a full day of work.
