Saw the actual math on Catan's dice odds and it broke my brain a bit

I was reading the rulebook for a fan-made variant last Sunday and noticed a chart that tracked 10,000 simulated dice rolls. The 8 and 6 tiles came up roughly 14% of the time, which I knew, but what got me was the gap between 7 at 17% and everything else. It made me realize why every game I've played in the last 6 months feels like the robber is out to get me personally. Has anyone else ever crunched the odds on a favorite game and found it changed how you play, or do you just ignore the stats and roll with it?
