Just realized a friend's blunt comment about my gallery wall changed everything

I had this messy wall of random prints and kid art that felt chaotic, and a friend said 'it looks like a yard sale puked on your wall' which stung at first. She suggested I pick just three frames and space them evenly, so I swapped in some $2 thrift store frames and threw the rest in a drawer. Has anyone else had a comment like that make you totally rethink your setup?

Took me way too long to learn that less is more with wall stuff. Swapped out a dozen mismatched frames for three matching ones and suddenly the room stopped giving me a headache. Sometimes the harsh friends are the ones who actually help.

Put three photos of my dog in matching black frames on one wall and it felt like I finally understood interior design. But @the_sean, how did you pick the three that made the cut? Thats the part I always get stuck on, ending up with twelve frames because I cant decide which ones to axe. I figure there has to be a method besides just closing your eyes and grabbing at random. Did you go by size, color, or just which photos you could stand to look at every day?
