Warning: a seized seatpost took me a whole weekend to get out

It was a steel frame with an aluminum post that had been in there for maybe ten years, and nothing I tried at first worked. I ended up mixing up a home brew of ammonia and automatic transmission fluid, letting it soak for two days, and finally got it with a bench vise and a cheater bar. What's your go-to method for a really stuck post that's already past the point of normal penetrating oil?

Sounds like overkill for a stuck post.

Man, that ammonia and ATF brew is no joke. @the_beth might call it overkill, but sometimes you need the nuclear option. Everyone talks about twisting force, but they forget about heat cycles on that aluminum. A few careful rounds with a heat gun on the steel lug, not the post itself, can break the bond without wrecking the frame paint. Lets the penetrant work way deeper.

Beth's right, that's way too much work for a simple stuck post.
