Hot take: A loose wheel in Morocco convinced me to switch to thru-axles for all my touring bikes.

On a tour through Colorado, my front wheel almost came off on a descent. Thru-axles fix that problem for good, way less stress when you're miles from anywhere. Best change I ever made to my setup.

Wait, don't quick-release skewers work fine if you tighten them right? I've toured for years on them without issues, you just gotta check them often.
