Hot take: Franklin BBQ in Austin is overrated for the wait
I drove 4 hours to Austin last Saturday and stood in line at Franklin BBQ for 3 hours. The brisket was good but not $60 and half a day good, you know? Anyone else think the side dishes there are just average?

Wait, they're charging $8 for mac and cheese that's dry and bland? That's wild, I'd be so ticked off spending that much on noodles that sad.

Used to be one of those people who swore Franklin was worth the hype, but after my last trip I gotta agree with you. The brisket is solid but it's the same level as some spots in Lockhart or even Stiles Switch that don't make you wait half the day. Their mac and cheese is the saddest thing I've ever paid $8 for, just dry and bland. Did you try any other places while you were in town?
