TIL checking the inside cover first saves you cash
Was at a library sale last Saturday in Portland. Grabbed a stack of hardcovers. $2 each. Got to the counter and the volunteer said "Three of these are ex-library copies." Marked down to 50 cents each. I felt dumb for not checking the card pocket first. Now I flip every book over before I even grab it. Anyone else use this trick or got another way to spot library discards fast?

Wait, people actually take the time to check the edges for stamps? @the_vera you must have eyes like a hawk. I just look for that crinkly plastic jacket, those things are so loud you can hear them from across the room. Half the time I find the card pocket ripped out but still see the little glue stains inside the cover, that's my go-to. Never even thought to look at the top and bottom edges, thats clever.

Oh those little plastic dust jacket covers are the real giveaway. I can spot the crinkly texture from three feet away now. The stamps on top and bottom edges are usually a dead giveaway too, the library always stamps those.
