The kids section at Savers is just picture books now
I swear every time I check the kids books at my local Savers in Portland it's nothing but Disney movie tie-ins and those cardboard baby books. What happened to all the chapter books from the 90s like Boxcar Children or Babysitters Club? My daughter is 8 and reads way above that level.

Started hitting up estate sales instead, way better selection.

The picture books are probably just what sells best at thrift stores now. Most parents donate the stuff their kids outgrew, and since everyone buys board books for babies, that's what ends up on the shelves. If you want chapter books for an 8 year old, you gotta beat the estate sale crowd like @ruby_sanchez45 said, or just buy new. Savers is a business, they stock what moves.
