Switched from a straight razor to a shavette for neckline cleanups last month

I was at a barber meet in Austin and saw a guy get a perfect line on a tough beard with one, which made me try it. After three weeks of practice on my own neck, I'm getting way less irritation and sharper lines than with my old method. Anyone have tips for keeping the blade angle steady on curved jawlines?

What helped me was stretching the skin a little further up from where I actually wanted the line. I mean, it feels weird at first, but it flattens that curve out. I also switched to shorter strokes instead of trying to follow the whole jaw in one go, idk it just gave me more control.

Yeah, that stretch-up trick from @harper_gibson2 is key. I had the same issue where my razor would catch on that little bump under my jaw. Pulling the skin up toward my cheekbone makes that spot totally flat. Short strokes saved me too, like an inch at a time. Trying to go ear to chin in one sweep always left a patchy mess right in the middle. Now I just do three small passes over that curve and it's clean.
