My street's balconies are all turning green this year

I live in an apartment and started growing herbs on my balcony last year. This spring, I saw almost every balcony on my street has some veggies now. It's like a quiet competition, lmao. My neighbor even gave me tips on growing peppers in small pots. I think people are getting into homegrown food more. What changes have you seen where you live?

Wasn't this kind of thing just a mess before? I used to HATE the idea, but seeing it now is actually pretty cool.

Totally get what you mean about the change... it used to look so messy and half-done. My neighbor's yard went from a dirt patch to this amazing little meadow full of bees and butterflies. Honestly makes the whole block feel nicer now.
