Stopped by the new bakery on 5th and their 'artisan' sourdough was a total letdown
I was in there yesterday, grabbed a loaf that cost $9. The crust looked perfect, but the inside was dense and gummy, like it hadn't been baked through. The girl at the counter just shrugged and said 'that's how it's supposed to be'. Has anyone else tried their bread and gotten a decent loaf, or is it just for looks?

That "gummy" texture happened to me too, and for nine bucks it's a total rip-off.

Yeah, @xenar14 is totally right about that gummy feel... it's like they used way too much binder or something. For that price you expect it to at least have a decent texture, not some weird chewy mess. Makes you wonder what they're actually putting in there to make it turn out like that. Honestly feels like a gamble every time you buy something new now.
