Just realized my old way of storing feed was costing me a fortune in waste

For years I kept a big open bag in the shed, and the rats and moisture got to so much of it. I finally grabbed a metal trash can with a tight lid from the hardware store, and my feed bill dropped by about $30 a month. Anyone have a better rodent-proof container they swear by?

Did you try putting a cinder block on top of the lid too?

Wait, wouldn't a cinder block just make the lid harder to open when you need to get in there? I feel like you'd want something heavy you can easily move, like a bag of sand or a big rock... a block seems like overkill and kind of a pain.

Honestly, we used a cinder block on our trash cans during that crazy windy week last fall. It was the only thing heavy enough that didn't blow away. You just tip it over onto its side to roll it off when you need in, then stand it back up. A bag of sand just ripped open for us.
