I used to spend an hour every morning cleaning my coop floor until I switched to the deep litter method six months ago.

Now I just add fresh pine shavings over the old stuff, and after 3 months I have a clean coop with way less work and a pile of compost ready for my garden.

Oh man, I feel this so hard. I was scrubbing that floor every other day and just about lost my mind. Totally get what @claire_fisher41 means about it feeling like a cheat code, it's a total game changer. I was so skeptical at first but that compost is like black gold for my flower beds. Honestly can't imagine going back to the old way of doing things.

Love that method. Switched to it a few years ago and never looked back. It honestly feels like a cheat code for coop cleaning. The compost it makes is fantastic too, my tomatoes loved it last year.
