My neighbor tried to tell me to stop feeding birds in summer

Last June I had this guy come over my fence all huffy saying I was attracting bears with my sunflower seeds. I just looked at him and said 'buddy I live in the suburbs of Denver there's no bears here'. He kept going on about it for like 10 minutes. I ended up just nodding and closing the door. Next day I saw him putting out his own feeder haha. Anyone else have people give you unsolicited birding advice?

Honestly, Denver suburbs have raccoons not bears, dude's overreacting.

@kim.emma you're probably right but if a raccoon got into my trash at 3am I'd still scream like I saw a grizzly bear.

Ha, I actually just heard someone on the radio talking about how bears have been spotted in the foothills near Golden, which isn't that far from Denver. So maybe not totally overreacting, but yeah, downtown Denver is mostly raccoons and the occasional coyote. I guess the suburbs are getting wilder as they build more houses up into the mountains. Still, finding a bear in your trash can would probably make anyone jump a little.
