Spent a week on the Timberline Trail and the number of people camping right on the fragile alpine meadows was honestly a bit shocking.
Counted at least seven tents pitched directly on the heather near Paradise Park, which seems to go against every 'Leave No Trace' principle I've ever read, so what's the best way to gently remind other hikers about durable surfaces without starting a fight on the trail?

Ugh, saw the same thing last summer and it drove me nuts.

Actually, it was the summer before last, not last summer. I remember because @nathan851 and I talked about it right after it happened. The timing just stuck in my head for some reason.
