That CRM migration last month left me pulling my hair out

We switched from a five year old Salesforce setup to HubSpot on the 15th and the data transfer corrupted half our lead records. I spent three days rebuilding contact lists from scratch because the timestamps got scrambled. Has anyone dealt with a migration tool that actually keeps metadata intact?

Holy crap, corrupted timestamps? That's brutal. I mean, that's like the one thing you'd think would be safe during a migration since it's just a date field, right? I've done a couple of those moves and the metadata always gets a little weird on things like notes and follow-up dates, but never the whole contact list like that. Idk, maybe I've just been lucky so far.

Grayb64 I feel like you're spot on about being lucky honestly. I've seen migrations screw up contact metadata in ways that make no sense. Like last year we moved about 500 contacts from one CRM to another and the timestamps on maybe 30% of them just turned into random dates. Some showed 01/01/1970 which I guess is a default but others had years like 2038 or 2099. The weirdest part was that the actual contact data like names and emails were fine. It's like the migration tool just gave up on the time data entirely. Makes you wonder if the export is even reading the timestamp field correctly in the first place, right?

Actually I'm gonna disagree on this one. We ran a migration of about 1200 contacts from HubSpot to Salesforce last quarter and timestamps were literally the only thing that came through clean. Names had weird encoding issues and phone numbers got jumbled into the address fields for some reason but every single date field down to the minute was spot on. I think it really depends on the APIs and what version of the tools you're using. Sounds like you guys maybe had a bad connector or an outdated export script that didn't map the datetime format right.
