Am I the only one who sees companies skip the real case studies?

I was looking for a new email marketing service for my small team, and every vendor page I checked had these vague 'increased efficiency' quotes instead of showing a real project from start to finish. I ended up picking one only after a sales rep finally sent me a PDF showing a client's exact campaign steps over six weeks, which made the choice easy. How do you all get past the fluffy reviews to find the actual proof a service works?

Tell me about it, I feel like a detective trying to find real info. I've started just asking for a specific client example right in the first sales chat, which cuts through the fluff pretty fast. What's the worst case study you've ever been sent?

And that's exactly what I've been noticing everywhere lately, not just in sales stuff. Like, I was looking for a plumber last month and every website had these glowing testimonials that felt super fake, just like those case studies. Finally asked a neighbor and got a real recommendation that saved me a ton of hassle. It's like everything's got this slick layer of marketing polish that you gotta scrape off to find the truth. The worst one I got was probably from a software company that used a "case study" from like 2018 with a completely different version of their product. Basically a fairy tale they wrote themselves.

That 2018 case study was basically ancient history by the time they sent it, ha.
