Almost got burned by a lead gen service that promised the moon
I signed up for one of those B2B lead gen platforms last month, the ones that claim they'll get you 50 qualified leads a week. Cost me $300 up front for a 3 month trial. First week I got 12 leads, but they were all tiny businesses that didn't even have a real office. I called one and the number was disconnected. Second week was worse, 8 leads and 6 of them were in industries I don't even work with. I did some digging and found out they were just scraping LinkedIn contacts and calling them leads. No vetting, no real intent checking. I canceled after 2 weeks and they refused to refund the remaining balance. Has anyone else dealt with a lead gen company that just sends you random contact lists instead of actual interested buyers?

It's like everything else these days - people sell you the idea of something instead of the thing itself. I ordered a "heavy duty" garden hose online last year that was basically a wet noodle with threads on the end. Same thing with my mechanic who advertises "comprehensive diagnostics" and then just plugs in a code reader and charges me $150. This lead gen company is just another version of that. They figured out the billing part but skipped the part where they actually do what they said.

Ugh, tell me about it! So what did you actually end up doing about the hose?
