Does chasing 'viral' B2B content actually hurt demo bookings? My talk with a sales rep

I had coffee with a SaaS AE from Austin last Thursday, and he said his close rate tanked after our marketing went heavy on meme-style posts. He showed me 12 lost deals where buyers literally quoted our funny LinkedIn content back as a red flag. Now I'm torn: our impressions jumped 4x in two months, but pipeline quality feels worse. Is it smarter to stay boring and technical, or has anyone else seen funny content convert when paired with a serious landing page?

Meme content is like a loud party trick at a networking event, people remember the joke but not what you sell. Buyers are basically saying, "If you're joking around this much, are you actually serious about solving my problem?" It's the same reason I don't hire a contractor who posts only skateboard tricks on their page, even if they're funny.
