Update: The entire comms rack on a G650 needed a full rewire after a bad storm

Got called out to a private hangar in Fort Worth last Thursday because the plane's entire SATCOM and VHF system was dead. Found water damage from a roof leak that fried three main bus bars and about 50 feet of cabling. Spent 14 hours straight just tracing and pulling new wire, and the pinout diagrams were a mess. The owner kept asking if it would be ready for a trip the next morning. Has anyone else had to deal with a total system failure from something that simple?

Yeah, a good moisture meter saved me hours on a soaked avionics bay once.

Honestly, that "soaked avionics bay" is the perfect example of why a meter is key. You need to find all the damp spots, not just the obvious puddle. Otherwise you'll be chasing ghosts for days.

Man, I was the same way until a job like that proved me wrong.
