TIL a $35 pin crimper from a garage sale does cleaner work than my $200 huxter tool
Picked it up at a flea market near Phoenix last month, just tested it on a D-sub connector this morning and the crimps came out perfect with zero burrs, has anyone else found a random old tool that outshines their expensive gear?

Wonder if you just got lucky with that one connector though... one good crimp doesn't make a tool better than something that does it consistently.

Real talk @daniel511, the trick is to do at least ten crimps in a row and cut them all open to check. That one good one can fool you but the bad ones tell the real story. Consistency comes from how the tool handles different wire gauges over a full batch, not just a single shiny result.
