Vent: dropped $1,800 on a third party warranty for my Tacoma and they denied every claim
Bought a used 2016 Tacoma in Phoenix back in 2019 and the finance guy talked me into a $1,800 extended plan, said it would cover the transmission and AC no problem. Fast forward to 2021, my AC compressor died in July and they told me it was a "wear item" not covered, same story when a wheel bearing went out 4 months later. Has anyone actually gotten one of these plans to pay out, or did I just light eighteen hundred bucks on fire?
Why does every "protection plan" in life seem to have a list of reasons not to pay? Phone insurance says water damage is not covered, the home warranty says the water heater was already old, the extended car plan says a compressor is a wear item. They sell you peace of mind and then hand you a list of rules once you actually need it. The whole thing works because most people never read the fine print until it is too late. You did not do anything dumb, the game is just set up that way.
