Seen a shop charge 3x for a cabin filter swap
I watched a quick lube place in Dayton quote a woman 90 bucks to replace a $12 cabin filter that takes 5 minutes, but they argued it was fair because of the labor to access it, so which is it, a simple drop-in or a real job?

Lol "labor to access it" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. On most cars it's literally two clips and a pull, not some engine-out situation. The real variable is if it's behind the glovebox, which adds maybe 10 minutes and some cursing, but still not 90 bucks. I've done this in a parking lot with a screwdriver and a bad back. They're charging for the convenience of not getting their hands dirty, not the actual time.
