A guy in Phoenix swapped my 10W-30 for 5W-20 on a 98 degree day and it was the right call
I used to think thinner oil in summer was asking for trouble, until he showed me my own oil temp gauge sitting 40 degrees cooler on the drive home. Anyone else running 5W-20 in a motor that calls for 10W-30, or am I the only one who got this backwards for so long?

I read that oil temp gauge cooling 40 degrees too, which matches what my mechanic told me last month.
