Just got a perfect blend match on a metallic silver with my first try at a new gun
I finally broke down and bought a Devilbiss GTI last week, figured I'd try it on a fender that had a nasty scrape. The metallic laid down so even I didn't even have to blend the next panel over, saved me about an hour of sanding and a full pint of base. Has anyone else noticed certain guns just click with specific colors or is it all in my head?

A full pint of base saved on one fender? That's crazy, I burn through that much just getting the activator ratio wrong.

Wait, are you saying you're using activator on base coat? That's not right. @ivan82, I hope you're mixing activator into the clear, not the base. Base coat just needs reducer, no hardener or activator at all. That's probably why you're burning through so much material. If you're getting the ratio wrong on clear, that's a different problem, but mixing activator into base is a common mistake that'll eat up product fast and mess with your adhesion.
