Snapped a pic of the ISS from my local park during a clear night
I used a star map app to time it right, and the photo turned out great. Who knew space station spotting could be so easy, lol.

That free NASA app worked great for me too... just set an alert and ran outside when it buzzed. Got a decent shot with just my phone on a mini tripod.

Ran outside when it buzzed makes it sound like a fire drill. You must have neighbors thinking you're crazy, bolting out at all hours. And all for a phone pic on a tiny tripod? I bet the shot is just a blurry dot. Modern astronomy is basically being a slave to app notifications. But hey, if it works, it works.

Holding your phone steady against a fence post works better than a flimsy tripod sometimes. I've gotten sharper ISS trails that way when I forgot my real gear. What app did you end up using for the timing?
