My cousin insisted I should ignore local advice about a fishing spot near Spokane

He said the locals were just trying to keep the good spots secret and told me to try this one lake he found online. I went there for a full weekend last month and caught absolutely nothing, not even a bite. Meanwhile, a guy I met at the gas station later told me about a different spot on the river, and I limited out in under two hours. Sometimes the people who live there actually do know what they're talking about. Has anyone else had a local tip prove them totally wrong?

Yeah, I learned that lesson the hard way with a hiking trail... locals saved me from a nasty fall.
