My toddler's constant 'why' phase got me thinking about how we ask things online.

Is there a point where we stop being curious? I feel like forums keep that alive.

Forums feel less like a kid's why phase and more like people just looking for someone to agree with them. The real curiosity often gets lost in wanting to be right.

Wait, you’re totally right @beth_baker69. It’s wild how fast a thread turns into a fight club. Saw a guy ask about baking bread last week. Twenty replies in, people are yelling about gluten like it’s a moral issue. No one actually helped him. Just a bunch of “actually…” comments trying to sound smart. The need to win kills any real talk.

Honestly it's not just online, it's everywhere now. People treat every single question like it's a test they have to pass instead of a chance to learn something new. You see it at work, in line at the store, even talking to family. That defensive need to have the Correct Answer ready to go just shuts down the whole point of asking anything. Real curiosity means being okay with not knowing, and that feels like a rare thing to find.
